ACTION FOR CHILDREN.
ABOUT THE PROJECT.
We invited the young writers from Action for Children to our warehouse to choose second-hand furniture and scenery for their upcoming performances at Clydebank Town Hall and Denny Civic Theatre. We provided advice and workshops to the young writers and cast and helped finalise set designs and assisted with transportation to and from the locations.
"We were able to lead a workshop with our young people to allow them to decorate and build the large set piece, giving them invaluable skills and a wonderful experience to inspire them to do more things like this in future."

HOW WE HELPED.

Working to a Budget
By using sustainable materials and second-hand sets and scenery we are able to support productions at a fraction of the cost were the designs to be built from scratch. This helps to support a more sustainable future for the theatre and production industry.

Set-Design Workshop
We provided the young cast and writers with a set-design workshop. Which allowed them the opportunity to decorate and build the large set piece used in their own production whilst also providing valuable production industry skills that can be used in the future.

Expert Knowledge
We provided expert knowledge and advice from our in-house and industry-experienced carpenters on the best materials and approaches to use when it came to designing the perfect set for the performance.
TESTIMONIAL.
“‘Unheard Voices, Unbroken Spirits’ is a brand new musical that tells the collective story of care experience across Scotland. This full length musical features original songs, characters and stories written by young people. The themes of the show are hard-hitting and relevant to today and the entire production was co-produced by young people and entirely youth led.
Everything from the characters, story, songs to the costumes, set and tech was all designed and carried out by young people, giving them new skills and honing old ones. The young cast gave four wonderful and passionate performances at Clydebank Town Hall and Denny Civic theatre, including a dedicated performance for local decision makers to share first-hand, their experiences and hopes for the future of the care system.
From our first interaction with Simon, we were welcomed to the warehouse with open arms. We came along with our young writers of the show and were able to browse and select the set pieces that we needed for the show, and he helped us to finalise our design for our big set piece that we were making and helped us to select the best materials for this. He made transporting the set pieces and working to a budget so easy and his guidance was invaluable when it came to our set designs and ideas.
We were able to lead a workshop with our young people to allow them to decorate and build the large set piece, giving them invaluable skills and a wonderful experience to inspire them to do more things like this in future. The set transformed the performance visually and really helped to set the scenes in the show, and the involvement that the young people were able to have in the process was amazing. We will not hesitate to return and use reset scenery again in the future!”
